Šibenik Summer Brass Band is perfect for enthusiastic brass band players who love playing and socialising in a relaxed atmosphere.
Performance ensembles for:
Course leaders: Paul Archibald & Andrew Kershaw
Paul Archibald and Andrew Kershaw are both immersed in the traditions of brass banding in the U.K. Paul is Musical Director of Regent Brass, a top London-based brass band and Andrew is Assistant Musical Director of Regent Brass and Musical Director of Cambridge-based Waterbeach Brass Band. They'll bring their knowledge and expertise for a wonderful week of brass banding, supported by our international lineup and top brass tutors.



Paul Archibald invites you to perform with him as a member of Šibenik Summer Brass Band, a new band created for the Šibenik Summer Brass Academy. The band will rehearse and perform as part of the activities of the Academy and is a must for all enthusiast brass band players. You'll be working with world class tutors and the week offers rehearsals, concerts, workshops and individual tips to really make a difference to your playing. We'll make sure there is also time to relax and enjoy the glorious environment of this ancient coastal town. The line up of the band will follow the traditional British-style brass band instrumentation of:

The music will consist of traditional and popular brass band repertoire and we may even feature some soloists for the brave-hearted! As part of the Academy you'll receive technical advice from a star-studded line up of international brass players in one of the most idyllic locations in Europe - Šibenik, an historic town in Croatia located by the Adriatic Sea

English Brass Academy is collaborating with The Croatian Association of Trombone & Tuba Players to offer rehearsals, sectionals and concerts for brass band players (minimum age 16 years), performing in historic and beautiful locations on the Šibenik Riviera. Accommodation is available to book in hostels and hotels situated in or near the centre of the town. Prices begin from around £20. Early booking is recommended. Šibenik has excellent restaurants, bars and cafés so there a is plenty of choice if you are looking for an excellent culinary experience! The Šibenik Summer Brass Academy is an international event for brass musicians of all ages and experience. Founded in 2015, in collaboration with English Brass Academy, the Šibenik Summer Brass Academy is a family of brass musicians from all over the globe.

The Šibenik Summer Brass Academy is managed by the Croatian Association of Trombone and Tuba players - Busina, under the artistic direction of the two principal musicians of the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb, Ivan Bošnjak and Željko Kertez. In collaboration with some of the most famous instrument makers like the Buffet Group, Yamaha, Thein, Jurgen Voigt and others, the Summer Academy brings to you some of the best brass musicians in the world.

If you love playing in brass bands and you enjoy a beautiful location, great weather and a blue sea then the Šibenik Summer Brass Band is for you. Come in and see what it's all about! It will be a friendly community of brass players and a great opportunity to meet and play with new, like-minded friends.

Šibenik is located in central Dalmatia beside the Adriatic coast and is one of the most beautiful and culturally-rich areas in Croatia, well known for its many historical monuments. Its two National Parks - Kornati, an archipelago with about 150 small islands and Krka, a river famous for its numerous waterfalls - offer a varied and rich landscape. Prehistoric and Roman chopard replica settlements to medieval and renaissance forts and buildings, combined with a glorious Mediterranean climate.

General information
• The nearest airport is Split, approximately 1 hour journey to Šibenik.
• There are buses from Split to Šibenik however taxis are relatively cheap. Prices are in the region of $65 (£45) for a one-way journey. Taxi shares may be possible depending on arrival and departure times.
